The Most Anticipated Film of Next Year Is 30 Years Old
Yesterday, it was announced that David Fincher’s second feature film, Se7en, will receive an IMAX re-release to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The iconic crime thriller is set to hit 150 IMAX screens, with a Blu-ray and 4K release following shortly thereafter.
For me, Se7en is the most anticipated film of the new year—and it’s not even new. This movie represents the pinnacle of crime thrillers. Fincher’s direction creates the perfect noir atmosphere, with every shot drenched in darkness and mood. The level of care he put into crafting the oppressive tone acts almost as a character in the film.
Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are a compelling detective duo, portraying partners at opposite ends of their careers: one full of brash energy, the other worn by experience. And Kevin Spacey’s chilling portrayal of John Doe lingers long after his limited screen time.
Seeing Se7en on the big screen has been a bucket list item for me, and experiencing it in IMAX promises to elevate an already exceptional film to new heights. This re-release isn’t just nostalgia—it’s an opportunity for a whole new generation of moviegoers to experience one of the greatest crime thrillers ever made.
